THE 14th annual Fullerton Host Lions FULLERTON CITY CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT HELD AT 6:30 ON FRIDAY, May 3,
AT MULTIPURPOSE ROOM OF THE LADERA VISTA JR. HIGH SCHOOL, 1700 E. WILSHIRE Ave.
As always, this is a grade level tournament (there will be a city champion for each grade), with three trophies awarded to the first three places in each grade. But there is also a "super-champion" section that gives all players, regardless of grade (but subject to meeting qualifications), a chance to compete with the very best student chess players in Fullerton for the title of 2019 FULLERTON CITY CHESS CHAMPION. .
are actively involved with the Sunny-Hills Leo club through the
coordination of Marc Poli, and the Troy H.S. Leo club coordinated by
Walt Rountree. Many activities involving the community and the
environment are persued,and helping the Lions with their projects.
We will participate in the upcoming
"Orphanages of Thailand"
Ongoing Year-long Activities
- Sunny Hills & Troy HS Leo clubs,
- Fullerton School District Chess program sponsored by the Fullerton Lions
(see detailed schedule)
- Weekly and in some cases intermittent chess club meetings at junior
high schools and elementary schools
- Weekly chess workshop on Thursdays,
- Middle & High school chess tournaments
Collection of Used Glasses at the Fullerton Public library
(Main), for processing by Lions International to help their global
program to improve vision for all.
Teresita Pines (for the deaf children) charity contributions and
significant labor to upgrade and provide maintenance upkeep,
participation in Sight Conservation program, including eyesight examinations at Health Fairs, and assistance for local students.

Recently Past Activities: What have you done lately?
February 7, 2019- 6:30 - Student Speakers Contest for High School level children,
at The Brea Scout Center in Brea. Guests are invited.

February 2019 – over 1200 flags will be distributed to Fullerton School District first graders to help them to commemorate President’s Day, and teach them what the flag and its various elements mean.
